Eh.

And bleh.  Our master bedroom lacks personality.  It is the one room in the house that has zero improvements, except paint.   Like me, it deserves a little pick-me-up.   The husband gets credit for the pre-me, cheesy, generic furniture, and he is also the tightest man alive, so it will be ages before we can buy a new set.   So I will work with what I have.

Recently:

Yeah, I know.

But with this bedding: (Charcoal Trellis, by Dwell Studio)

And this fabric: (Garden Party, by Anna Maria Horner)

I feel I can make some design progress.  A curtain rod is on order, so stay tuned.

A little bit brighter...

Since we have no overhead lighting in our living room, I decided it was time to spring for some lamps, before everyone goes squinty and/or blind.   So I ordered this lamp:

Modernica's Nelson Bubble Lamp (Pear).  Cannot wait.   Reading and knitting are miserable pastimes in there at the moment.

Kimono top

Still on my slow trajectory back into sewing.  My usual M.O. is to rush through projects, then leave things half-completed, or finished, but so jacked up they are unusable.   But I have been taking my time now, appreciating the process, and enjoying the the results more truly.

I downloaded this pattern from Habitual.  It is great because it goes from infant sizes all the way up to size 8.  I lengthened it a tad for Kendall, and here is how it turned out:

Kendall modeling.  I think maybe it could use a bottom tie too:

Bird Mobile

See, here I go again with the birds.   I found this pattern online (free!) and made my own version to hang in the living room. The corner desperately calls for a new lamp or some kind of lighting, but until then, hey, BIRDS!

New Light

Although I love the energy efficiency, large closets and modern electrical system of my almost-4-year-old house, it does lack the charm of our previous 1936 Tudor cottage.  I am slowly working on replacing the builder standard fixtures with more appealing items.  High up on the list has been the lighting.  The standard package includes swirly metal painted? some kind of matte silver with gold accents.

Here is the new one, scored at the Restoration Hardware outlet for $85 (retail price $350).
