Bedroom, Part Two.

Here is the before, from this post:

The curtain rod has arrived (Umbra), the fabric has been stitched, and all bits assembled.

I like the contrast between the bedding and the curtain, but the throw pillows with this fabric are next on the sewing list.   I think the patterns will have a more harmonic relationship with them then.   And who couldn't use some extra harmony?  There is also the bonus effect of minimizing the country cheese of the furniture.

I like this effect, or, how I will make some bokeh.

From Wikipedia:

Bokeh (derived from Japanese, a noun boke 暈け, meaning "blurred or fuzzy") is a photographic term referring to the appearance of out-of-focus areas in an image produced by a camera lens using a shallow depth of field.[1] Different lens bokeh produces different aesthetic qualities in out-of-focus backgrounds, which are often used to reduce distractions and emphasize the primary subject.

Maybe kinda like this:

No special lens, just an accident.  But I like it, so I am obsessed with getting this:

Yep, it is a Lensbaby.  Their website is here.   Check out the gallery for all the spectacular photos you can take with one of these.   Apparently it takes a bit of practice to get the target focus right.   Which means the five glasses of wine I usually have before I remember to take pictures at family functions may have to be cut back a bit.

Mainlining fabric, again.

A rush of joy ensued when this arrived (along with the lamp!) yesterday.   Dang, I love mail order.

This, of course, will be used to make pillows for this:

I thought the brown round plants things were black when I ordered it, but oh well.

Thank you brown clad friend.

I loves me some Nani Iro.

I got this Japanese sewing book awhile back, and even have the Nani Iro fabric, but am just now finally getting around to making something from it.  I am 5'10" which is not the ideal size for Japanese patterns (duh!), so I have altered everything to account for my non-traditional body.

The pattern I am making is the same as the one on the cover.

I am not so sylphlike as this lady, so a tunic, rather than a dress it will be.  Off to cut my muslin!
